Positive: Very nice waterfront property. Staff helpful, except front desk personnel. Nice dining options with a view. Laundry services on site.

Negative: Very isolated. Not much outside of gates to see/do in the area, unlike the other side of Nungwi point. Had creepy encounter with someone dining by myself one evening and also the “beach boys” on the beach, lack of guests in the whole property made it seem a bit unsafe as a single traveler.

Positive: The room was big, nice bathroom, although the bed was a standard double. The location is great just turn left onto the beach and walk beautiful. The bar/restaurant staff, particularly Fatima were lovely.

Negative: Even though the website says large double they only have a normal double in every room. The safe in our room wasn’t working and despite asking it wasn’t fixed for the whole of our stay. The reception staff were not particularly warm or helpful.

The staff were exceptional throughout our stay and always attentive, friendly, and willing to help with anything we needed. Their level of care and personal attention really made us feel welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the breakfast offered a great variety of options. The beachfront setting and quiet surroundings made it the perfect place to unwind. This reflects what many guests consistently praise about Mnarani Beach Cottages, particularly the warm hospitality, attentive staff, peaceful location, and excellent sea views.

Negative: There was very little to dislike. The only minor drawback was that the beach area can be affected by the tides, which sometimes limits swimming directly in front of the property. However, this is part of Zanzibar’s natural coastline and did not significantly impact our overall experience.

Positive: Staff were lovely. Rooms were excellent. We had a bungalow with a mezzanine as a family of 4 and it was perfect. Nice pool. Lots of hammocks and sunbeds on the deck. Lovely view.

Negative: It's about a 20 min walk to the main bit of nungwi. I expected we'd walk without issue when booking but it's just so hot we didn't. Easy enough to get a taxi or tuk tuk but obviously adds to the cost. Bonus is its peaceful and like a little oasis away from it all. There are a few restaurants a short walk away. Swimming in the sea only at high tide and not suitable for small kids. They were happy with the pool or you can go to nungwi beach.

Positive: The staff were really pleasant and accommodating. The room was very big and spacious and the morning views of the ocean from the balcony were serene.

Negative: The WiFi only worked outside my room. I also did not like the limited breakfast options.

Summary: I enjoyed my quiet birthday retreat. Would recommend.
